Into the Trash (Roland V-Drum demo tune)

I finally got set up at home to record myself playing, so I thought I’d start out with this demo song that’s right there on the v-drums that I practice on. There are a whole series of these demo songs that are included in the TD-30, I guess to sort of get the new electronic drummer jumpstarted with something to play along to. These demo songs totally crack me up, despite being actually well composed and performed. So, I might do a series on these, depending on if any of the others grab my ear. I think Into the Trash is an instant classic, though. There are an infinite number of ways to interpret the drums on this song, so I hope you enjoy my personal take on it.

Iktsaurpok – Alone Forever In An Empty Universe

Okay folks, here’s an update to the demo version of Iktsaurpok. I got some great feedback on the demo, and I spent some time cleaning things up and tweaking the mix, and here is the finished version! Thanks for following along on this journey. I hope you enjoy seeing the process as I post multiple versions of music on SoundCloud as I progress through the production process. I don’t know when this will get released broadly, but I suspect that this will get rolled into the next Robort release. Click on the link to go to soundcloud and read the full details. Thanks again for listening!

New release of “Had” by Stereo Creeps

It was our big day! On May 22, 2020, Stereo Creeps released a new track “Had” that will be part of a whole new ep or album or something that we are currently working on. The song was actually recorded back in 2019 at Earwig. I did this whole massive tuning of Don Farwell’s house kit to get the right vibe for the song. It felt like a huge risk, and I hope that paid off. I mean, this is the first release of a studio recording with me in the band, so I absolutely had to get it right. I think we recorded 2 takes to tape, and called that good. If you listen closely, you’ll hear members of Suitcase on backing vox. We had a whole watch party to commemorate the release (can’t be embedded here), or just watch the video below.

it’s a mashup!

So, I guess I made a mashup. I was hanging out with Stereo Creeps, and we found ourselves cry-laughing for 30 mins about the concept. So I had to go and create it. We got lucky–both songs are in the same key. It almost arranged itself.

I think I have a system now, so I got my ears out for more.

Stereo Creeps – She Knows / It’s a secret

I’m pretty darned proud to announce the official release of a live performance of two brand new songs from Stereo Creeps. “She Knows” and “It’s a Secret” were recorded live in a room full of friends at the recent Earwig Sessions at Earwig Studio, and we decided that’s just how we’re going to release these songs. We recorded an EP earlier in the year, but that’s the real studio deal so it takes a moment to get it all packaged up and ready for release. Technically that EP was my first recording on the drums with Stereo Creeps (I appeared on the previous release Suck on theremin), but this is my debut released performance with the band and so IT’S MY BIG DAY! Sean Moe, Robert Dollarsign, and Mark Wardell – it’s a huge honor to be teaming up with you on rocking the f out of everything! Don Farwell and Lance Hofstad – thanks for putting lipstick on this pig with your audio and video genius! And of course thank YOU for your continued support of local music. More important than ever. NOW GO WATCH THIS THING WHY ARE YOU WAITING!

Love and Fury at Slim’s

Just recently Love and Fury performed outdoors at Slim’s here in Seattle. It was an amazing evening sharing the stage with Sky Cries Mary, and Virago. Here’s a playlist of the entire evening…

It was a great close to a chapter in our lives. We now move on to songwriting for the next album. Stay tuned!

Spasmo

Spasmo played our first show the other day! We have another coming up on July 25th, and then our third is opening for Behold the Arctopus on August 3rd.

Good to be playing with Stuart Dahlquist again. Met him when I toured with Dama/Libra. Nathan Donnel is on vox. Marshall McLaughlin is on guitar. Stuart and Marshall were in Pink Muscles. Marshall’s written all the songs so far, but we’ll probably all contribute eventually.

CHAOS. Okay, here’s Adam Noble Bass’s video of us from our first night:

Stay tuned for a demo.
